The Better, Simple Valentines Day: Part I

February 11, 2012

I’m so happy with the way my Valentines turned out this year! I chose to do a candy instead of a baked good because I have a list of over 100 people to give to, and even I don’t have the patience to bake such a large amount of cookies. The valentines below were inspired by this post from Dandee’s blog (which has the cutest valentines idas). I toyed around with ideas of how I could use her adorable PDF while incorporating candy since I don’t think my friends would be too thrilled with plastic bugs.
To learn how to make these critter filled Valentines click the “read more” button below.

UPDATE: It has come to my attention that the link for the mason jar pdf was taken down. I created my own version that is pretty similar. You can get it for free by clicking here and choosing "slow download". If you find that the mason jars are too big for your preference when you print them, you can always adjust the size by picking the "scale" button in your print settings and lowering the percentage.

  1. I love this idea, and I agree with you the candy worms are better than the plastic bugs. My kids will be doing this for Valentine's day. However I was wondering were you got the plastic bags you used. Thank you for your response.

    1. I got the cellophane bags from a cake and candy supply store. However I do frequently see similar ones at Michaels. If you are still out of luck I found some on Amazon that would also work.
      Best of luck!

  2. Hi there Monique, I love your cute idea. Would love to send them to my grand kids this Valentines Day. I don't see your "read more" button any where. My only question is what kind of little bag did you use? And di you simply tape it closed? Thanks for the inspiration.

    1. I'm sorry you didn't see the read more button. I'll have to look into why that is. You should be able to see the full post by clicking on the post title. But to answer your question I purchased the bags from a cake and candy supply store, but I've also seen similar ones at Michael's. If you still can't find any in a nearby store Amazon has some that would work pretty well.
      Best of luck!

  10. These are great! I downloaded the mason jars and they are a perfect size for me. I used a large heart shaped paper puncher instead of the oval and I am sooo happy with the results!
