The Better One Ingredient Berry Sorbet

July 18, 2014

berry sorbet
The weather here in NYC has been pretty nice for the last couple of days, but Siri has told me not to get too comfortable because we will all be sweating profusely in next week's 90-degree heat. I really can't continue my bad habit of eating half a box of popsicles every day ('cause it's expensive and contains far too much sugar), thus this little trick I've learned is fantastic!!!!!!!!!! (There are not enough exclamation points in the world to convey my excitement).
There is one little catch though. You have to have a masticating juicer (it potentially could work with a centrifugal juicer, I've just never tried it).

But the good news is all you need are frozen berries. Any kind: mixed berries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries-- really anything you want!

You put the berries in the juicer and then they come out of the waste side as these mushed bits that you can then put in a bowl and use a spoon to smooth down into a bowl of "sorbet" nom nom nom.

voila
There are seriously a gazillion ways to use this so I always have a large Tupperware stored in my freezer. Usually, I put it on top of yogurt, on angel food cake, in crepes, on top of pancakes, on top of waffles, or plain and drizzled with agave--really the sky is the limit here, people!
